  • This morning comes with the good news for students who are preparing for IIT-JEE 2013 exams. IIT Kanpur latest news comes to notice which provides assistance for class XII pass out students. Earlier, I was looking for answers; will 2012 pass out students of class 12th are eligible for IIT- JEE 2013 exams; will class 12th pass out students have to appear again in board exams for IIT- JEE 2013; will class XII previous years percentage marks are valid for IIT- JEE 2013 exams.

According to the ISEET 2013 exam eligibility criteria, only the top 20 percent students of state board are eligible for the ISEET 2013 common entrance exam. So, main focus of students pass out from previous year class XII 2012 exams, are to verify whether they are eligible for IIT-JEE 2013.

I am going to tell you whether class XII 2012 students are eligible for IIT- JEE 2013 exam. Before that you need to know about ISEET 2013 exam pattern and other details. Read below given link to know about ISEET 2013 exams.

IIT Kanpur 2013 eligibility criteria for 2012 and 2013 pass outs

The news come from the desk of NDTV that IIT Kanpur has decided to accept the common entrance test format which is based on the percentage ranking as a legal measure only for the 2013 exams. It will retain the same eligibility criteria for students who passed the board exams in 2012.

The decision is finalized for 2013 exams only and decision for the 2014 exam is yet to come. The constitution senate committee will study the aspect of the admission process and later arrive to users about the recommendations.  It is also coming to notice that number of students selected for the 2013 advance exam will be filtered on the basis of the class XII marks and mains exam but for 2012 class XII pass out’s, the mains exam is the criteria.

According to the IIT council, only the 1.50 lakh students will be selected from screening exam. It means only 1.5 lakh students will be eligible for advanced test. The voices are coming from some other IIT’s that 2013 advance exam will be subjective type. The Joint Admission board will expected to hold a meeting to decide whether the test will be subjective or objective.

As far as the IIT Kanpur is concerned then IIT Kanpur faculties said that number of students selected after mains will be decided later. There is no specified number for the advance exam. The IIT Kanpur who was first to reject the common entrance test, now accepted it as a legal measure for IIT-JEE 2013 exam.

There is much confusion in mind of students. Some students even feeling the stress of ISEET 2013 exam pattern and cannot able to understand the complete IIT-JEE 2013 selection scenario. This step of IIT Kanpur releases some pressure from the students. It gives some air to students.

IIT Kanpur is agreed on the point of class XII percentage in IIT-JEE 2013 entrance exam. The other IIT colleges are yet to finalize the criterion for the class XII pass out students. The IIT Kanpur does not want to disturb the 2012 students with this new format and all class 12th students will appear in exams as according to the existing criteria.

I hope that above information will be helpful for students who want to appear in IIT-JEE 2013 exams.  If you have any doubts and questions in your mind then leave your comments below.

Updated: The IIT-JEE 2013 eligibility criteria for IIT Kanpur is not yet confirmed. It is proposed by IIT Facilities and final decision is yet to be taken. IIT kanpur already agreed with new percentage criteria but want that 2012 batch students criteria remain same for 2013 as well.

    chirag sachdeva said...

    Brajesh,

If you want to get admission in IIT Kanpur then percentage does not matter. you just need eligibility criteria of 2012 but If you are willing to take admission in other IIT colleges then you have to among the 20 percent students.

Rest of the IIT colleges are yet to talk on the issue of the previous year pass out students. If the IIT-JEE 2013 exams notification come then I will let you know.

    Rahul Roshan,

Earlier, It was said by experts that 2011 batch students are qualified for the IIT-JEE 2013 new pattern exams but I have not seen any notification for 2011 batch students.

IIT Kanpur give eligibility grace to 2012 batch pass out students and even they have not write about 2011 batch students. Picture will be more clear once official notification of IIT-JEE 2013 exams comes.

Is the 20 top Percentile applicable for the whole ISEET exam or just the Advanced Part?
If you have passed 12th in 2012 does that mean u can give the Advanced exam for IIT kanpur even if you are not in the top 20 percentile?

    chirag sachdeva said...

    Amey,

The top 20 percent marks is only for IIT-JEE 2013 exams. The IIT-JEE 2013 exams include mains and advance exam. If you qualify for the mains exam then you must go for advance exam. The mains exam is just a way for advance exam.

If you are among the merit list of advance exam then you must be among the top 20 percent eligible students. If you got merit in advance exam but still you are not qualified in top 20 percent then you are not eligible.

IIT Kanpur removes the updated eligibility criteria, the eligibility criteria for 2012 batch students remain same. Students have to clear the mains exam then qualify for the merit list in advance exam.

    ansh,

It is my personal advice that take admission in any private college. we havenot seen any confirmation regarding the 2011 batch in IIT-JEE and NIT. Rumors are there that 2011 batch students are eligible.

Only IIT Kanpur will take 2012 batch students with same eligibility criteria as of 2012 and no more information about any other college.

You are only eligible for IIT Kanpur and not for other IIT colleges. In order to be eligible for IIT-JEE 2013 exam, you must be among top 20 percent students. Moreover, you must clear the mains and advance exam. The final merit will be made on the basis of advance 2013 exam rank.

    chirag sachdeva said...

    Naina,

Only the Top 20 percent students will be counted for IIT-JEE 2013 eligibility criteria. Only class 12th marks are counted.

    Sir,
Are you really sure that IIT Kanpur has 60% as the elligibility criteria for twelth passed students in 2012.IS it a proposal or it is confirmed by IIT kanpur. Has IIT JAB cleared this proposal.

    chirag sachdeva said...

    Misal,

After the IIT-JEE 2013 exam approval, IIT Kanpur agreed with the proposal of 20 percent marks but after few days when their faculties called a meeting and then it was decided that IIT-JEE 2013 pattern is okey but 2012 batch students eligibility criteria remain same as that of 2012 otherwise it would not be justice with 2012 pass out students.

IIT Kanpur then added that they agree with proposal of IIT council but eligibility criteria for 2012 batch students remain same. As far as the JAB is concerned then JAB has not introduced a notification on IIT Kanpur.

    Misal Choudhary said...

When will all the IIT colleges officially declare the eligibility criteria for twelfth pass students..................
    Sir,
If I am not wrong then all the students securing above than 60% in their CBSE board 2012 are eligible for IIT Kanpur counselling provided they clear mains and advanced test.

    One more question..........
can I appear for improvement in Boards while pursuing Btech first year.

    chirag sachdeva said...

    Misal,

We are waiting for the latest news about notification and till now it is IIT Kanpur which supported class 12th pass out students and no other college come forward.

You can appear for the improvement exam but you have to manage the schedule because managing both B.Tech and improvement exam is not a cat walk. Do the time management of your work.

i meant, A.P. board gives 11th and 12th marks combined to calculate the final percentage in board(as we have board exams in 11th as well as in 12th).so my doubt is, Will IIT consider this percentage or ONLY 12th class percentage seperately.

    chirag sachdeva said...

The percentage of 2012 batch are compared with 2013 batch students. Either to improve the marks or to go with same marks.

    chirag sachdeva said...

    Hello all,

In respect of those students who passed their Board exam for the first time in 2012, the eligibility criteria for joining any of the IITs or ISM Dhanbad will be 60% marks in their 12th Board or equivalent (55% for SC/ST/PD candidates). For those candidates who appear in their Board exams for the first time in 2013, the eligibility criteria will remain ‘top 20 percentile of the successful candidates’ in their Boards, category-wise. This will be a one-time exception for JEE (Advanced) 2013 only.

For those students who passed their 12th Board exams in 2012 but are re-appearing in the 2013 Board exams with a view to improve their performance, 60% rule will apply if they use their 2012 Board exam results and ‘top 20 percentile’ rule will apply if they use their 2013 Board exam results. This too will be a one-time exception for JEE (Advanced) 2013 only.

    Shubham Pranky Patel,

If you give improvement in partial subjects then you have to follow 2013 eligibility criteria and marks will be consider as equal to 2013 batch. If you appear in all subjects then evaluation of highest marks is done in 2012 marksheet. You even get the advantage of 60 eligibility criteria with 2012 pass out.

Appearing in partial subjects will put you in 2013 batch.

    chetan,

The ISEET 2013-2014 exam pattern includes JEE mains exam and JEE advanced exam.

You need to be among the top 20 percent students of class 12th from your state and from your board.

After JEE mains exam, you must be among 1.5 lakh students and final merit will be decided on basis of rank in JEE advanced exam.
