I am using the term AIEEE and JEE mains interchangeably and it does not mean that both exams are different. Both exams are same and will expected to be held in April 2013. The syllabus of AIEEE (JEE mains) exam is very important because it decides the future of AIEEE and IIT students.

From this year, IIT students are fully dependent on the JEE mains exam. The JEE mains (AIEEE) 2013 exams are mandatory for all students who want to appear in engineering entrance exam. It is JEE mains (AIEEE) 2013 exams which sets foundation for the JEE advanced (IIT-JEE) 2013 exam.

If you failed in the JEE mains (AIEEE) exam then you cannot carry with the JEE advanced (IIT-JEE) exam.

For the students who are not eligible for the IIT-JEE, they can take admission in engineering colleges through the JEE mains(AIEEE) exam in such a way that 40 percent weightage is for class 12th marks and 60 percent weightage in JEE mains(AIEEE) exam. If you got less percentage in class 12th then improve your percentage through improvement test or focus on JEE mains (AIEEE) 2013 exams.

The JEE mains 2013 exam is also important for the students who are preparing for the IIT-JEE exam. The students of 2013 batch are required to be among the top 20 percentile and students of 2012 follows the same eligibility criteria for IIT-JEE exams. Once you appeared in JEE mains (AIEEE) exam then this exam decides whether you go to next level or not?

If you are among the top 20 percent and cannot able to clear the JEE mains( AIEEE) exams then you are not eligible for IIT-JEE exam. In order to be eligible for the IIT-JEE( JEE advanced) exam, you must be among the 1,50,000 students.

Only the top 1,50,000 students will be selected for the IIT-JEE( JEE advanced) exam 2013. So, prepare well for the JEE mains (AIEEE) exams 2013.

My query is, will the weightage of 40 and 60 percent for intermediae and JEE main respectively apply for qualifying in the JEE advanced? How is the calculation made? In CBSE a 95% is not so easy while for some state inter boards that is a very common percent. Will the CBSE students not lose out on this? Please clarify
